A Wet Day

Friday was a very wet day in Auckland.  We listened to a story called Walking home in the Rain.  The children have fun in the rain and wind.  We talked about what we like about a wet day.

Then we created some art to illustrate our writing.

He Waka eke noa!

We are all in this together.  As we come to the end of term 1 we have been talking about how our class can be good classmates.  We have talked about how we can help each other and be good friends.  We know that we are all learning together and we are all in our class waka on a learning journey.  This is our class waka.  Each of us coloured a paddle to show we are working together.

Numicon Maths

This week we received our Numicon resources and dived straight in to our new maths learning.  We have been learning about the different numicon shapes, their colours and sizes.  Our first task was to cover the baseboard using the different shapes and not leave any space uncovered.  We discovered we needed to change shapes and rotate and flip some shapes to make it work!  We also noticed that everyone used different shapes to cover their boards.  This showed us that sometimes there are many ways to solve a problem.

We love maths with Numicon.
