Samoan Language Week

Talofa lava! During Samoan Language Week, we were fortunate to have Sinuti (Brian’s mum) visit our class and share part of her Samoan culture with us. She taught us some basic Samoan words and phrases, and we enjoyed taking part in a variety of arts and crafts activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate the rich culture and traditions of Samoa. 🌺🇼🇸

Our Favourite Drawing

We are getting good at using the drawing tools to create. Today we chose our favourite drawing to share.

Term 2 PENN Movie

Our focus is all about “Moving Our Bodies and Growing Our Skills.”
The children have been really enjoying Kelly Sports and are learning new skills through netball and other team games. Through these activities, they are developing important values such as taking turns, teamwork, camaraderie, and patience with one another. The playground is also a wonderful way for them to stay active and build their physical confidence, while yoga helps calm their minds and bodies and encourages relaxation and mindfulness.

Busy Learning and Creating!

The akonga in Room 27 have been busy welcoming new friends into our classroom.

This week, they created beautiful flowers for the special wāhine in their lives using pipe cleaners. This activity encouraged great concentration and helped strengthen their fine motor skills. The children were also excited to surprise their loved ones with thoughtful handmade Mother’s Day cards.

Alongside this, the akonga have been exploring maths through Numicons and practising their photography skills using iPads. It has been a fun-filled week of creativity, learning, and new experiences in Room 27.

We can lasso our pictures

We learnt how to lasso our photos today. We can use the undo tool to try again if we need to.
This was our first time using the tool. We are very proud of our efforts.
