This week we welcomed 10 new students to Pt England School and into their first classroom Rm 27. On Wednesday the Prefects and Mr Burt presented these new students with their bookbags and introduced them to the rest of the school. We promised to keep them happy and safe! Welcome to Pt England, Arizona, Aye, Irys, Kelly, Maylani, Evie-Grace, Izzy, Latu, Manaia, Nathan, and Kairyn.
Welcome to 2025 in Room 27.
This year we will be focusing our learning around the school value of “Joy”. We will be finding joy in all our achievements and the achievements of our school mates, whanau and community. On Friday the whole of Team One went to the Zoo. We had a wonderful day and lots of whanau joined us to explore Auckland Zoo. Thanks for coming with us.
We learnt all about Giraffes. The zookeepers told us all about what they eat and the adaptions they have to help them live in their habitat.
Rooms 26 & 27 are proud to share with you their Manaiakalani Film Festival movie.
As new to school life we are always learning and along the way we can make many mistakes. But it our classes we know “It’s Ok to make mistakes” and in fact that is how we learn. We had lots of fun making this movie and we hope you enjoy it. Please leave a comment to let us know what you think.
Friday was a great day for our annual School Athletics Day. Everyone had a great day running, jumping, and throwing. We cheered each other on, had fun, and did our best. Thank you all the whanau who came to see us compete. We all had a great day.
Today we explored how moving a marble through paint can create wonderful art. We had to choose our paper and paint colours. Then we expored how changing the angles of the box could change the direction and speed of the marble. Lots of learning and lots of fun!
Welcome back to school for a busy and fun term 4. This term we are excited to be learning about The Physical World. With a science focus we will be investigating forces and motion, and answering the question “How do things move?”.

On Friday Pt England School had a Wig and Wacky hair day to support the Child Cancer foundation. Lots of the tamariki in Room 27 put on wigs and did fabulously colourful hair styles.

This term we have been learning about measurement. We have used the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to help us think about all types of measurement.

In Room 27 we have been practising our running all term. We have got faster and fitter and we were ready for Cross Country on Friday afternoon. We got changed into our house colours and lined up with the other classes in our year.
Our whanau came to watch and cheer us on. Then it was time for Mr Sommerville to call us to the start line.
Everyone had a great time and tried their best. Awesome effort Room 27.
